Harold Glenn “Whoozie” Smith, 87, of Center Point, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Salem Center.
Born May 3, 1938, in Flemington, he was the son of the late Ralph and Lillian Irene Myers Smith. Whoozie was a man shaped by hard work and dedication. He spent many years working for Glaspell Lumber as a truck driver and in the timber industry, taking pride in honest labor and providing for those he loved. His strong work ethic and steady presence were qualities that defined him throughout his life.
Outside of work, Whoozie found joy in the simple pleasures. He enjoyed deer hunting and treasured time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life. He was known for his love of gathering with friends, sharing a social drink, and telling stories that brought laughter and lasting memories. His easy-going nature and gift for storytelling made him a familiar and welcome presence wherever he went.
Whoozie is survived by his two children, Stephanie Smith of Sardis, and Harold Jason Anderson and wife Bambi of Salem; ten grandchildren Curtis Anderson (Ally), Mary Lipscomb (BJ), Devin Anderson, Lillian Anderson, Kaitlynne Anderson (Dustin), Hunter Anderson, Kaden Anderson, Lane Anderson, Rilee Anderson, and Emma Anderson; six great-grandchildren, Cosima, Damien, Titus, Rayven, Paislee and Westin; one brother, James Ralph “Jim” Smith and wife Doris of Jackson County; one brother-in-law, Donnie Kimball; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion of 50 years, Janet Anderson; and his siblings, Stella Maxine Duvall and husband Kib, Mary Kay Kimball, and Martha Ann Lowther and husband Bob.
